Leather Care Guide

Routine care

• —Dust with a clean, dry microfibre cloth.
• —Wipe minor marks gently with a barely damp cloth, then allow the surface to air dry.
• —Test every cleaner or conditioner on a hidden area first.
• —Condition lightly every 3–6 months, or less often if the leather remains supple.

Water and drying

Blot moisture immediately—do not rub. Reshape the piece and let it dry naturally away from radiators, hair dryers and direct sunlight. Apply conditioner only after the leather is completely dry.

Storage

• —Empty pockets and release tightly fastened straps.
• —Stuff bags with acid-free tissue to preserve shape.
• —Use the breathable dust bag; never seal leather in plastic.
• —Hang jackets on a broad, supportive hanger in a cool, ventilated wardrobe.

Avoid

• —Household detergents, alcohol wipes, baby wipes and silicone sprays.
• —Over-conditioning, which can darken or soften leather unevenly.
• —Long exposure to sun, heat, humidity, perfume or hair products.
• —Machine washing, tumble drying and dry cleaning unless a specialist explicitly approves it.

Specialist cleaning

Deep stains, ink, colour transfer, mould, suede and shearling should be handled by a reputable leather specialist. Contact us with photographs before attempting treatment if you are uncertain.
